Building your extension

Step 1 - Preparation:
Making sure there is clear access to the site
Step 2 - Groundworks:
Foundations, reinforcement (if required) pipework, drainage and services, Concrete footing
Step 3 - Superstructure:
External walls – blockwork & brickwork, sand laid before damp-proofing membrane, insulation, concrete slab for flooring, lintels and frames for windows and doors fitted / inserted as walls are built
Step 4 - Internal Walls:
Internal walls built
Step 5 - Roof Structure:
Carpenter will start building the roof structure, if having rooflights or dormers, these will be fitted
Step 6 - Roof Coverings:
Roof battens cut & fitted over the membrane, tiles/slates laid
Step 7 - Windows & Doors:
External rendering, windows & doors fitted, guttering & drainpipes fitted
Step 8 - First Fix Carpentry, Electrics and Plumbing:
Project planning – A project manager will be assigned to your job and we will prepare a build schedule to include key delivery dates. Now works can start.
Step 9 - Breaking through:
Seal off the extension, steels put in place along with padstones. Joins will be made good.
Step 10 - Second Fix:
Second fix electrics will be completed i.e. sockets made live, switches put in place and lights fitted. Second fix plumbing i.e. taps installed and connected. Flooring laid, kitchen units installed if applicable.
Step 11 - Plastering, Decorating & Finishes:
Plastering must be left for around a week before decorating can commence
Step 12 - Finished extension
Extension complete for sign off from the customer, we also offer a 12 month defect period as soon as the works are completed
